As it’s coming close to summer and everyone is looking to shape up the availability and purchase of slimming supplement skyrockets. These tablets are really popular amongst all different types of people from bodybuilders to those just trying to lose weight faster. If used correctly they can have the desired effect. However long term use can cause major health risks.
T5’s are probably the most popular form of slimming pill and most readily available from gyms and online. The majority of T5’s contain Ephedrine, caffeine and aspirin as their main ingredients plus some other filler products depending on the quality of the product.
Ephedrine is designed to stimulate your central nervous system and is has a similar effect on the heart as amphetamines. It became a very popular supplement for diet and weight loss in America originally due to its ability to suppress your appetite and burn fat.
Both ephedrine and caffeine, two of the main ingredients in T5’s and many other diet pills, are stimulants which can boost energy. But the side effects can range from annoying to lethal. The most common side effects from T5 products include increased body temperature, increased heart rate, shakiness, sweating, nausea, dizziness, headaches, muscle wasting, insomnia and diarrhea. Less common side effects linked with ephedrine include panic attacks, delusions, heart attacks and stroke.
After hundreds of reports of adverse effects linked to products containing ephedrine, the FDA finally banned products containing Ephedrine in 2004. But the ban appears to have major loopholes, since ephedrine products such as T5 are openly sold over the Internet, anyone with access to the internet can therefore purchase them.
Although Ephedrine has been proven to help aid weight loss the risk of complications and health issues far outweigh the potential weight loss benefit.
From a weight loss point of view the long term use of ephedrine and caffeine isn’t sustainable without cycling it because your body will after a short period become used to the dosage found in these tablets and they will become ineffective and pointless.
There are no real quick fixes for weight loss, the best thing to do is follow a healthy ‘clean’ diet, exercise regularly and get enough rest.
